Our firm serves our local area of Bastrop County, the Austin metropolitan area, and clients all over Texas. The firm collectively has a wide range of experience in many practice areas including civil litigation in federal and state courts, bankruptcy, wills, trust drafting and administration, probate and estate planning, guardianships, real estate, oil and gas, business law, and mediation services.
The firm was established as Basham & Owen in 1975. Founding partner, Mark Owen was joined soon thereafter by Ernie Bogart. The firm currently has three lawyers: Mark W. Owen, Ernest F. Bogart and Elizabeth Owen. All are graduates of the University of Texas School of Law and together have over 100 years of experience practicing law.
Although our practice as a whole is general, two of our attorneys are Board Certified in a specialty area: Ernie Bogart in Civil Trial Law and Elizabeth Owen in Estate Planning & Probate Law. Mark Owen and Elizabeth Owen are members of the College of the State Bar of Texas. Both Mark Owen and Ernie Bogart are qualified to serve as mediators.
The firm is located in downtown Elgin, Texas, in a historical building restored in 1985 to house the firm’s offices.
